Jay A. Etchings is a Splunker and industry veteran with nearly three decades of experience in high-performance computing, distributed systems, and data-intensive analysis. Before joining Splunk, Mr. Etchings held scientific research appointments with the National Science Foundation and Arizona State University, where he contributed to funded NSF projects to develop open-source (open-systems) architectures, large-scale data analysis, machine learning, and software-defined networking. Mr. Etchings is a High-Performance Computing Specialist (HPC), Splunk Certified Architect, IT/DevOps SME, and is the author of numerous case studies and publications, most notably ""Strategies in Biomedical Data Science"" published by SAS Wiley in 2018, which outlines software-defined datacenter practices deployed in research and education. Mr. Etchings is a Staff Consulting Solutions Engineer on the Splunk Public Sector Team, supporting the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration.
